Apple has enlisted none other than Taika Waititi to direct a new spot spruiking the Portrait Mode on the iPhone 15 Plus.
The spot sees musicians debating over an album cover, shot on the iPhone, and where the point of focus should sit.
Portrait Mode lets users change the point of focus in a phone in post, highlighting a person in the fore or background and blurring others partially or entirely.
The ad, called “Album cover” and the work of incumbent creative agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab, follows a trio of band members squabbling over a potential image for a new album cover.
The plot thickens when we learn the female protagonist penned said album about her break-up with the band’s guitarist.
It’s good Millennial fun and follows Apple’s ongoing marketing push that its smartphones are actually pro filmmaking devices.
