Redefining Tech Leadership: Deputy’s C-Suite Now 80% Women

Deputy, the leading global people platform for hourly work, has announced the appointment of Sejal Patel Daswani (lead image) as its new chief people officer, resulting in a shift in the composition of its senior leadership, with women now making up 80% of the company’s C-Suite.

Daswani has led people functions at every stage and scale – from start-up to mid-size, through to Fortune 500 companies, including Sunrun and Visa.

In her new role, Daswani will focus on advancing the Deputy’s global people strategy, enhancing the employee experience, and supporting the company’s international expansion. She has a proven track record of developing business and people strategies to support scale within high-growth, fast-paced environments.

At Visa, she led the HR strategy and execution for the expansion of the Innovation and Digital Mobile Products teams to onboard over 1500 top-tier technologists, engineers, developers, and designers. Sejal led HR efforts to support Visa’s innovation and digital presence, which expanded from San Francisco’s HQ into Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Additionally, during her tenure at Sunrun, she spearheaded the company’s rapid expansion, tripling the employee headcount from 4K to 14K across Technology, Sales, General Administration, and Operations (many of whom were hourly/frontline workers).

“I am excited to join Deputy and support our vision of building thriving workplaces in every community – including our own. I am extremely passionate about Deputy’s platform, which improves the lives of hourly workers and the businesses that employ them. Having led and scaled frontline workforces, I understand the profound impact that technology has in enhancing the lives and experiences of shift and hourly workers,” said Daswani. “I am excited to drive Deputy’s global growth objectives by fostering an environment where innovation and employee experience are strong priorities and we continue to lead as an employer of choice”.

“Sejal’s experience in scaling global technology companies, as well as her understanding of the world of hourly work will be invaluable as we strive to not only grow Deputy, but also to create meaningful impact for our customers, our partners, and the hourly workers we serve,” said Silvija Martincevic, CEO of Deputy.

“With Sejal on board, our leadership team closely reflects the community of hourly workers and business owners that we serve. We are intentional in developing a diverse workforce that understands the needs of our customers. I’m immensely proud to lead a company where diversity isn’t just a goal; it’s our reality. Our C-Suite now consists of 80% women. By harnessing the talents, perspectives, and experiences of such a diverse array of individuals, we are better equipped to serve and continue to innovate for our customers”.

Daswani is based in San Francisco, California where she lives with her husband, three children and two dogs.

Her first day at Deputy was Monday, 04 March, 2024.
