Tech Stocks Feel The Impact Of Middle East Conflict – She’s Got The Stocks, 19 October 2023

Despite its slow initial reaction, the global technology market is now firmly feeling the impact of the conflict in the Middle East.

Aside from one – which remained unchanged – every single stock in our She’s Got The Stocks watchlist dropped this week.

Investors flocked to safe havens as news broke that Israel was preparing for a ground invasion of Gaza.

The Nasdaq Composite has dropped nearly three per cent in the past five days.

Gold surged to its highest levels since March this year and the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to above 4.9 per cent on Wednesday – the highest levels it’s been at since 2007.

“Markets are trying to figure out where rates are going to peak,” said Jamie Cox, managing partner at Harris Financial. “Markets want to see what happens when rates hit five per cent.”
